Dear Parent or Guardian,
The School Sports Day will be on Monday 1st July 2019 beginning at 1:30 pm. The children from KS1 and KS2 will take part in a series of competitive events on the school field. The teams will be made up of children from Year 6 to Year 1, with an adult leader to accompany, referee and record points.
The format will be similar to previous years – visit the school website for videos of previous Sports Days. The children will rotate around a series of activities in their “planet” teams. They will be competing, on each event, against another team from a different “planet”. All the points will be added up at the end and one “planet” will win the Sports Day Trophy. In addition to this, each team will be marked for their sporting behaviour on each event. The team with the highest sporting points will win sporting certificates.
Parents are very welcome to watch and support all the children who take part. Please remember to set a good example to the children with plenty of positive support for all the competitors. The spectators will be on the outside of the children’s area, which will be in the middle of the field. This is done to make use of the path around the field. In addition to this, we will publish the teams and the starting points for the children on the school’s website, to help you find them prior to the event.
The children need to bring a suitable kit for PE. This must be a plain white sports top, plain black or blue sports shorts and suitable sports footwear (not boots). If the weather is cold, the children may bring a tracksuit top to wear. Remember, incorrect clothing and footwear causes most sports injuries! A hat and sun cream can be worn if the weather is hot.
If it is raining at 9:00 a.m. then the field will be too wet to use for sports day. The reserve day is Thursday 4th July. I hope this information is helpful. Many thanks.
