Keeping Well

Keeping Well

At this time of year, there are many bugs going around and Public Health is advising parents / carers to help keep your children well by:-

Having your free flu vaccine if you are in one of the eligible groups – all children aged 2 and 3 years can still receive their nasal spray vaccine from their GP. In addition, any child aged over 6 months who has a long term health condition (such as diabetes or asthma), all pregnant women, and residents aged 65 or over can also have a flu jab for free – again contact your GP to make an appointment.

Norovirus is a tummy bug that generally peaks after Christmas. Thorough hand-washing with liquid soap and water and keeping your child away from school if they have diarrhea or vomiting can help to prevent the spread of this bug. Children need to be kept off school until they are 48 hours free from symptoms.

If you or your child start to feel unwell, speak to your local chemist in the first instance.

Many thanks
