Attendance, Lateness and Earrings

6th January 2017

Dear Parents,

I trust you all had an enjoyable Christmas and are looking forward to a Happy 2017. As we start the new term we have decided to have a real push on attendance and in particular punctuality. We realise that some mornings a variety of things can delay a journey to school but we would like to remind you that all children in Reception and Classes 1-5 start at 8.50am and all children in Classes 6-9 begin at 8.55am.

As from Monday all children that arrive after those times should head for their normal classroom doors and NOT the main entrance. Mrs Scott (Learning Mentor) and I will be on each playground to meet late comers and mark them in the registers, this stops a delay in getting the children in their classes. At 9.10 am the gates will be locked and any late comers then should report to main entrance.

In addition the governors have asked me to remind you of the school’s no ear-ring policy. This policy is one that the Governors strongly believe as we have an incident when a child’s ear has been partially detached due to an ear-ring being caught on clothing. We do urge that children who have had ears pierced remove the ear-rings as soon as possible after piercing. Children who have un-healed piercings should make sure they are covered by plasters or tape, this should be for no longer than 6 weeks.

We urge parents to consider having ears pierced in the summer holidays as this allows for healing time.

As usual if you have any concerns, or wish to discuss any matters with myself, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards

Mair Hindmarsh
