Liverpool Primary Schools’ Poetry Festival

Liverpool Primary Schools’ Poetry Festival

Thursday 4th May saw two budding poets from Kirkby CE attend the Grand Final of the Liverpool Primary Schools’ Poetry Festival held at St. Paul’s Catholic Junior School in West Derby. Ten schools entered young poets all having worked alongside real-life poet Paul Delaney in their schools. Our two budding poets, armed with their performance poems, entered the ring followed by their noisy entourage – well Mr.Tennant, mums, dads, aunties and  ... a nan! First up from Kirkby CE “I Wonder...” a thoughtful poetic insight into life, followed by an extremely entertaining - “There Is Nothing Finer Than ...”

It was a fantastic evening with the “knock-out” punch being delivered by one of poets – a fantastic joint second place overall. Thanks must go to Paul Delaney who really inspired the whole school on his recent visits and of course our children who were selected as our school representatives. Roll on next year! Well done. Mr. Tennant.
