Welcome Back 2018-2019

5th September 2018

Dear Parents/Carers,

WELCOME BACK. I hope you had an enjoyable summer and hopefully the children are all raring to go for another school year; they certainly look the part so thank you for ensuring they look so smart. I am delighted to welcome Miss Emma Parr to our school as teacher for Class 2. We know she will receive a warm welcome and will be a fantastic asset to our teaching staff.

As we start the new term I thought a reminder of some of the day to day routines would be useful.

START TIMES: Nursery Mornings: 8.30am-11.30am Afternoons 12.30-3.30pm Collect from classroom doors- access via Playground 1 (Main Entrance Hall Lane)

Reception class: 8.50am – 3.15pm Collect from classroom door – access via Playground 2 (Hall Lane / Milbrook Drive entrance)

Classes 1-5: 8.50-3.15pm Collect from classroom doors- access via Playground 1 (Main Entrance Hall Lane)

Classes 6-9: 8.55am- 3.20pm Collect from classroom door – access via Playground 2 (Hall Lane / Milbrook Drive entrance)

To insure the children’s safety and security whilst in school both playgrounds will be locked from 9 am. Any children who arrive after this time should report to the main office, where they will receive their mark. Please note that all children should be collected from their own class and not from a sibling’s class.

The new privacy fencing around Playground 2 is also to increase the security for the children making it a more private and secure space to play. In addition, it will hopefully reduce pollution levels on the playground from car fumes and the forth coming building work.

Attendance: Please see the pamphlet with some important information regarding attendance and punctuality and some exciting news of a chance to win £50 voucher each term and a trip to the seaside in July.

Communication: School is a very busy place and it is important that we keep you informed with as much information as we can. With this letter today, you should receive an annual calendar hi-lighting dates for your diary. In addition, if you have not yet downloaded the Parent App from the Apple and Android stores then please do so. It is free, just search for Kirkby C of E Primary School. Please make sure you register when you first download it and turn on your notifications. Letters, term dates, booking forms for breakfast and after school clubs, menus, absence reporting and much more can all be accessed from the App so please make sure you use this. Our website is also another area where you can keep up to date with all aspects of school life including daily photographs of events in school. This can be found at http://kirkbyce.webplus.net and is well worth keeping an eye on.

Kirkby CE has high expectations of standards and behaviour. To help parents understand what each year groups expects in terms of standards we will be sending home later this week some parent guides that you will hopefully find informative and useful when supporting your child’s learning and homework activities.

If you wish discuss any matters please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards

Mair Hindmarsh
