Next Thursday 2nd March is World Book Day. Books are a great resource for children and their importance and access to them for all children cannot be under estimated.
This year all the classes from Reception to Class 9 are visiting the Kirkby Gallery where there is a superb exhibition on featuring the work of the illustrator Nick Sharratt. (It’s well worth a visit if you have some free time.)
This year for World Book day we are asking the children to design their own pair of under pants featuring characters, themes, or stories from their favourite book. The children will bring home a cardboard template which on the front should feature the design and on the back a few sentences describing their design and which book it refers to. The aim is to then fill the school hall with a washing line of pants. Prizes will be given for the most creative. We have avoided a dressing up day as we know this can mean additional cost for parents. It would be great to have 292 pants hanging in the school hall demonstrating the children’s love of books, so please encourage your child to complete and return them on Thursday 2nd March.
